British Actor, Diana Rigg Passes


British actor, Diana Rigg died earlier today at the age of 82. Most fans of Rigg might know her from Games of Thrones as Olenna Tyrell, “Queen of Thorns”. She was Emmy nominated for this role in 2013, 2014, and 2015.


Other fans may know her for her work in “The Avengers”, a 1960’s spy series. In this series she starred as a secret agent named Emma Peel. The spy she played fought villains in a series that was both humorous, and filled with adventure.


Rigg also spent many years in the 1960’s as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company. While she was part of the company she starred in plays such as “Macbeth”, “Mother Courage”, and “Jumpers”.


Diana Riggs also played Tracy di Vicenzo in the 1969 James Bond movie, “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.” Michael G Wilson, a producer for the movie stated that Riggs was, “much loved by Bond fans for her memorable performance.”

s agent, shared the news of her passing this morning. He stated that Riggs passed surrounded by her family. Her daughter, Rachael Stirling, announced she died of cancer which she was diagnosed with in March.
