Governor Brian Kemp confirms first death caused by coronavirus in Georgia



A 67 year-old with a previous medical condition, passed away after being diagnosed with coronavirus.


The victim was hospitalized at WellStar Kennestone in Cobb County after testing positive on March 7. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated that people who are older than 60 and those with chronic medical conditions such as lung disease, diabetes, and heart disease are at a greater risk of getting sick from this illness.


The World Health Organization declared COVID-19 has reached a pandemic level. A pandemic is a new disease that spreads around the world without expectations, whereas, an epidemic occurs when there is a sudden increase in cases of an illness that is unique to a community.


Daily precautions to consider:


- Wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if you don’t have water and soap.


- Avoid touching “high-touch” surfaces in public places like door handles, light switches, elevator buttons, etc.


- Wash your hands after touching any of the “high touch” surfaces.


- Avoid crowded places
